Apply for residence permitsWho need a residence permit? If you enter China with a long-term visa (including Visa categories D, J1, Q1, S1, X1 and Z) you need to apply for a residence permit. When? You should apply for the residence permit within 30 days from the date of entry. It is also subject to the deadline on your visa. How long is the validity period? The validity period of a foreigner's work-type residence permit shall be 90 days at the minimum and five years at the maximum; and the validity period of a non-work-type foreigner’s residence permit shall be 180 days at the minimum and five years at the maximum. Those who apply for the renew of the expiry of residence shall, within 30 days prior to the expiry of the residence permits, file the applications. Upon examination, if an application is denied, the applicant shall leave China before the expiry of the residence permit. Where to apply? The Entry and Exit Administration Division of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau and the Integrated Service Hall of its District Public Security. How many kinds of residence permits? There are for work, for study, for journalists, for reunion and for personal matters.

2.Acceptance at the Entry and Exit Administration: (1) Prepare the application documents； (2) Wait to be called to the Document Checking Window and have the documents checked； (3) Wait to be called to the Acceptance Window and have the documents accepted； (4) Collect the Application Receipt and then collect the residence permits at the collection date.
